We are so lucky in NZ to have a vast array of natural resources, paired with amazingly talented crafters that turn them into the luxurious beauty products we bring to you.

One of these natural resources is Bees which so many of our wonderful suppliers use.  The start of Spring marks Bee Awareness Month.  Without bees, we wouldnt exist as they pollinate all of our food, so the importance of looking after them & keeping them fed, healthy & well is huge!

As well as feeding us, Bees also provide many beauty benefits! Bee pollen has strong anti-aging properties due to its high levels of nucleic acids. It stimulates growth of new skin tissues and prevents premature aging by keeping theskin hydrated. It is an excellent moisturizer for dry, mature skin helping to fade wrinkles and fine lines

Honey is also a super food for your skin.  Did you know...

  • Honey is filled with fructose, glucose, vitamins, minerals and is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the skin against the damaging effects of free radicals, including the sun, and slows down the aging process, keeping those wrinkles and fine lines at bay.
  • Honey retains moisture and keeps the skin hydrated with a youthful glow. It cleanses, nourishes and moisturizes the skin, keeping the pores unclogged.
  • Honey is especially wonderful for acne treatment due to its antibacterial and antifungal properties. Redness and inflammation is controlled by its anti-inflammatory properties making it a great product for sensitive skin.
  • You can whip up a honey face mask to absorb all those sweet honey benefits and blast acne.

As well as honey & pollen, Royal Jelly & Bee Venom also have healing properties.  Another of our best sellers from Living Nature (www.livingnature.com) uses Bee Venom in their Sheet Face Mask.  Bee venom assists in energising the skins natural activity which encourages increased circulation, collagen and elastin production. This will help to firm and plump facial tissue for a smooth youthful looking skin.

If you want to know more interesting facts on bees, Sarah from Lanie Balms (www.lanies.net) is not only a talented natural Beauty creator, she is also a Bee Keeper.  Head on over to her website to read up on her blog on how bees reproduce, its a really informative read!

So lets look after those bees to help keep us looking youthful!
