Get your Glow on with Exfoliating
Posted on June 22 2018
I dont know about you but in winter my skin is DRY! I love soaking in the glorious hot water in the shower to warm my bones....unfortunately this along with the biting winter cold, drys out my skin something crazy. So how do i revive my skin....with EXFOLIATION.
Exfoliation is the removal of dry/dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and is one of the most important aspects of your home skincare routine for face and body. Exfoliation not only helps many skin problems, it also increases blood circulation, which in turn helps you to achieve healthy and glowing skin.
// Top 3 tips for exfoliating
1. Only exfoliate once a week!
We dont want to be scrubbing away those good healthy skin cells underneath
2. Go Natural
Choose natural products containing natural exfoliants like sugar, salt, epsom salt or crushed shell. These should be paired with natural oils like coconut oil or shea butter to nourish our skin. We dont want nasty micobeads turning up in the ocean & in our food chain.
3. Moisuture afterwards
Be sure to apply a good moisturiser or body oil afterwards to keep the fresh skin glowing
Right now I am loving Palmers Micro Fine Exfoliating Facial Scrub. This used crushed walnut shells & is blended with Cocoa powder & shea butter to moisturise at the same time.
For my lips i alternate using a homemade sugar scrub with some brown sugar & coconut oil with using the Rude Renew my Lips Lip Exfoliator. It is packed with goodness including Shea, Grape and Avocado oils. You can either apply a nourishing lip balm afterwards or it smooths your lips for a great base under your fav lipstick!
And finally for an all over body exfoliation once a week i like to use a coffee scrub. At the moment i am really getting into making my own from coffee grounds, epsom salts for that magnesium boost, some coconut oil & a touch of orange essence.
Of course the important thing is to put some moisture back in to your body once all these dead skin cells have disappeared! Try the Body Lotion bars from Bare Naturals NZ (www.barenaturals.co.nz)
With all this pampering you will be glowing like its summer all year round!
